How does it work
Ground Source Heat Pumps
This simple animation demonstrates the basics of how a Ground Source Heat Pump works. The pipe under the garden has a fluid passed around it (a mix of water and food friendly anti-freeze) and extracts small amounts of heat from the ground which is then transferred in to the Heat Pump.
The glycol and water mix is passed around the pipe at a very low pressure gathering up a small amount of heat as it travels.
The heat it picks up is then passed over a heat exchanger inside the Heat Pump. This small amount of heat is enough to boil off the contained refrigerant.
This gas is then compressed creating the levels of heat needed for all of your heating and hot water.
